Unboxing Everything you Need for Back to School with WVVA

Stories & Spotlights

Back-to-school season is in full swing, and for brothers Reed and Duke, this year feels extra exciting. They are unboxing not just pencils and notebooks, but an entirely new learning adventure as they begin their first year with West Virginia Virtual Academy (WVVA).

The Big Unboxing

One of the best parts of starting school at WVVA? The K12 supply box that lands right on the doorstep. Inside, Reed and Duke found everything they need for a successful year – computers, books, science supplies, math blocks, art supplies, and more.

Reed, a 5th grader, couldn’t wait to power on his personal computer. He loves gaming and is most looking forward to WVVA’s student club opportunities. Once his computer was up and running, he began exploring Minecraft right away.

Reed’s younger brother Duke, who is starting 2nd grade, was just as excited. Duke loves reading new stories and is already talking about the friends he’ll make in his virtual classroom.

With hands-on projects, interactive lessons, and all the tools to match their curiosity, both boys are set up for a smooth and exciting transition.

Ready for Learning—Anywhere, Anytime

What makes WVVA stand out is how it blends structure and flexibility. Students like Reed and Duke get access to a high-quality curriculum taught by certified teachers, while still having the freedom to learn in a way that fits their interests.

That means Reed can dig deeper into science experiments while Duke gets extra reading time—all while staying on track with WVVA’s supportive framework.

A Parent’s Perspective

Their mom, Ashley, a former elementary school teacher, is eager to bring her own love of education into the virtual space alongside her boys – WVVA is the best of both worlds.

“I’ve always loved teaching, but I also wanted my children to have access to resources and academic support beyond what I could provide alone,” she explained, “WVVA gives them consistency and accountability, while still giving us the flexibility to shape the day around their strengths.”

Looking Ahead

As the 2025–26 school year begins, families like Reed and Duke’s are proving that education doesn’t have to look the same for every student. WVVA’s personalized approach helps kids feel confident, curious, and ready for the year ahead.

For Reed and Duke, the future is wide open—and it starts with one very special unboxing.
